Let's gather together for a free and creative internet ! Let's put pressure on Youtube management ! Don't let multinationals (like Google) choose your rights and your freedom of expression !
Youtube is strengthening the repression about copyrights. A lot of channels, amateurs or professionals are affected, Youtubers loosing their source of income, for ridiculous justifications. Let's stop it, make a blockage against that policy, for Youtube to stay free !
These changes implies that every video subject to the use, even anecdotic, of a content owned by a third party (videos, extracts from movies, TV, musics...), for example every let's play or critic of a work not suitable to the producer (negative critic), will be inevitably monetized (preceded by ads). This source of income will nourish the producer, who, in addition to benifit from free publicity from the Youtuber, will profit from his work. The so-called robbed is therefore the thief ! The videos can even be blocked !
Does TV or radio shows, magazines or internet sites always ask for the artists rights before quoting their creations ? Do they have the Youtubers agreements whenever they use extracts from their videos ? Of course not. Why ? This is called fair use, that states that :
"The fair use of a copyrighted work is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include :
- the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
- the nature of the copyrighted work;
- the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole;
- and the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work."
The big producers would have the right to make use of the little creators but not reciprocally ? This difference affects one of our fundamental right : equality under the law. Furthermore, theses companies use it for commercial purposes, but the Youtubers not doing this are anyway penalized : compulsory monetization is a scandalous practice !
We want every Youtuber using short extracts assigned to their producers to have this liberty of use and expression, for a free and creative Youtube !

Revise your politic on copyrights, don't prevent the non-premium Youtubers (networks/partners) to use shorts extracts from third party publications if they are assigned to their creators, like allowed by the fair use law. Does TV or radio shows, magazines or internet sites always ask for the artists rights before quoting their creations ?
